Firing Tedford discussion embargo lifted
(Written by kencraw)
OK, I am officially lifting the embargo on the ‘Fire Tedford’ discussion. Today’s performance was dreadful. What’s worse is that it was both uninspired and uninspiring. You’d think a coach on the hot seat would have a little more fire in his belly. Tedford seems woefully uninterested in how terrible this team is.

Wow. I never expected a post like this, Ken. It’s not unwarranted though.
At this point, I feel sorry for Tedford. He’s a good man who has done things the right way. He’s done amazing things for this program. I know nobody wants to win more than he does. But it’s falling apart all around him and he has lost the ability to do anything about it. I’d like to be angry, but it just makes me feel bad for the guy.

Yep, I think it’s time for him to go.
The penalties. The unprepared players. (Time out before your first play of a drive?) The lack of play from the quarterback position for years now.
And honestly, his utter lack of risk-taking. Kicking the FG at the end of the 3rd quarter, that was a give-up move — that was just trying to get the final score to be closer. And in the 4th, that last punt? Why punt there? What’s the worst thing that can happen? You turn over the ball in your own end. Okay, well, you’re down two scores with 6 minutes to go. All you’re doing in that situation is saving yourself a more embarrassing score. The point is to win the game, not save yourself from embarrassment. And yet I feel like that’s what we’ve been left with.
I’ve been a hold-off-on-Tedford person for a long time, but after today I can’t think of a reason for him to be retained at the end of the year. I think it’s time for him to move on.

How does a team have to burn a timeout on offense after a change of possession in the second half? This team is completely unprepared to compete.
It is time for Tedford to go, this program needs a new head coach. We looked like the old undisciplined ASU teams today and ASU looked like the more experienced and disciplined team.

I didn’t realize there was such an embargo. You were always very polite to people like me who wanted him gone a long time ago. And you allowed us to discuss the issue on your forum.
That said, welcome to the club! It has been slowly but surely becoming a popular club since 2007, and now it is the dominant party.

Well, it was more of a personal embargo than the sort a dictatorial despot would have. I’ve never been against a healthy discussion. 🙂
