“Eat It Mack Brown”
(Written by jsnell)
I am not a big one to quote posters on Internet forums, but this one is too ripe to ignore. From a user on SI.com:
Just a few years ago Mack Brown pulled a classless act by lobbying poll voters to vote down Cal so that Texas could go to the Rose Bowl with 2 losses (Cal was 11-1 and lost to #1 USC by 6 points in L.A.). It worked and a number of voters did not even have Cal in their top 5 after Cal was #4 in the BCS the previous week. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND! EAT IT MACK BROWN. You reap what you sow and Mack Brown more than anybody deserves this fate. I am not a Cal fan, but I remember thinking how classless Mack Brown was back then and eventually it caught up with him. I can guarantee you that somewhere Jeff Tedford is smiling.
Yes, I’ve had some issues with Texas coach Mack Brown (pictured, right, getting the stank eye from Phil) and his minions in the past.
I actually think Texas got hosed this year. But… live by the terrible system, die by the terrible system.

I agree completely about this. Thanks for posting this lovely tidbit.

Yes, but with the expanded format they are still going to go to a BCS game. Nonetheless, it’s great to know that the karma police finally came for Mack Brown.

I’m a Trojan fan but agree 100% with this post. Thanks to Brown-noser, Cal got absolutely hosed that year, further evidence that Pac-10 teams get bent over just about every bowl season in favor of teams from the Big-12, SEC, Big-10, fill-in-the-blank conference. It’s great to see Brown on the receiving end of it this year (although to a team from his own conference) — cosmic justice delayed but not denied.

Agreed, it would be so much sweeter if Texas got held out of a BCS bowl game all together. And then went to the Holiday Bowl…and got crushed by Cal. But I’ll take this too.

By the way, imagine what it will be like if Florida beats Bama in a close game and Mack starts lobbying for voters to mimic the BCS computers that will likely still have UT ahead of Florida. You know he’ll try.
Then not only will all Cal fans hate him, and all OU fans hate him, but the whole SEC will hate him for basically discrediting their whole conference.
