It’s REALLY official now
(Written by kencraw)
I saw more “it’s official” posts and articles on GameDay coming to Oregon that I care to count and not one of them could reference a press-release or quote from either a University of Oregon or ESPN official. While the body of work of those articles definitely made it look official, I’m one to hold off until an actual press-release is made for the “it’s official” statement.
Well we finally have it:
The ESPN College GameDay website shows this week’s show being hosted from Eugene, OR.
Two notes:
- There is a poll there of who people think is going to win. Oregon Duck fans are known for their quickness to inflate those types of polls and this is no exception. The Ducks are up 68-32 as of 4:45 PM PDT. Go vote if you care about that sort of thing.
- I’m pretty excited about getting up at 6:00 AM to go get a good spot behind the camera and hold up my sign… now I just have to decide what it should say. Any ideas?

I came here to post that very same link to implore ALL CAL FANS TO VOTE…the Cal/Oregon vote right now (9/24, 5:37 p.m. PDT) is 33 to 67% Oregon…
Obviously, the excited Duck fans have made a b-line to the CGD site and got their votes in early…
VOTE CAL TO WIN!!

How about…
“Quack is Whack!”
??

Or, a student section favorite:
“F*CK THE DUCKS*

“I dare you to punt to the wizard”
September 24th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
Real men punt to THA1.

“Corso – don’t pick the Bears!”

It’s funny how Ken thinks he’ll be able to convince my roommate and I that we wish to wake up that early and get over there…
We’re easily looking at a third topping for this…

I have better things to do as I am sure most Bear fans do than to go on some ESPN web site and say who I think will win. That’s so SEC mentality!
As for the sign how about what I have on my license plate frame:
“Shoot and Release Wild Ducks”
September 25th, 2007 at 5:40 am
Tedford for President. Will give it a bit of national appeal. Short of that, nos. 5 and 6 are both strong.

What about a sign that says “http://goldenblogs.blogsome.com/”?
Or maybe one that says “Go visit http://goldenblogs.blogsome.com/“?
Look, you have a lot of different and creative options available to you here. All of them relating to http://goldenblogs.blogsome.com/.

You think you’re geting more SPAM now? Put your web site up on TV and watch the fun begin!

Since it’s likely that Cal will have to come back from behind to win at some point in the game, how about “The Bear will not quit. The Bear will not die.” for a little old school love?

I personally like Telford for President, many Duck fans might a agree. He was always well loved in Eugene. BTW, there was a press release sent to Oregon fans yesterday, I’m sure its on the goducks website. Location of the telecast is still TBA but I would bet its at the Casanova Center and not on campus.
If for some reason I decide to wake up at 6am Saturday I’ll have a sign to bring too…and perhaps a stuffed bear in a noose…

Joshiemac, I’ve got to say, yours is the best one that I like so far. bar20, Oooo, that’s actually tempting. It would be interesting to see how many hits it generates.

Bear fans tend to be more busy with more important things than trivial polls. So that’s most likely why there is that huge gap. I mean we’re talking Berkeley here. A school where at football games the student section chants stuff like “this is our domicile” or “nobel prize.” LOL.
A couple of weeks ago though, they released some type of fan-based poll
ranking teams and it surprised me that CAL was number one on that poll. I’m not sure what that poll was called but I’m sure you can still find it under rankings on the espn website.
sign ideas…ROSE BOWL or DIE. We all know BEARS are stronger than DUCKS? Just a play on words I guess…I’m not too good at coming up with catchy phrases.
