A bunch of kids tried their best (EMFMV 2010 #7)

Jason and Ken return with thoughts about the Oregon State loss, a preview of Saturday’s must-win Washington State game, a salute to Kevin Riley, a digression about what’s fair to criticize about college athletes and what isn’t, and much more. Also, Jason is loopy because he had just spent the day at the Giants parade. Cal’s Rose Bowl berth, you are OFFICIALLY on the clock.

Hey Jason and Ken
Good podcast as always. I’m optimistic about Mansion’s ability as the starting QB. Hopefully he’ll put his thinking hat on when studying the complex Tedford playbook. Mansion should in theory have the raw talent being an elite 11 qb in high school and with him hailing from the State of Texas. Speaking of which do you think that Mansion owns one of those huge ten gallon cowboy hats?

What did you guys think of the “shake ups” this week Tedford said would be in store for the o-line? Getting MSG back in is awesome, but not the oh-my-gosh moment I was expecting. However, since the o-line’s performance so far has been akin to BP’s oil spill cap (it’s working and plugging things up one moment, then the leaks start anew…), I tip my hat to the coaches for doing SOMETHING. Hopefully it will send a signal to the fanbase that the coaches do indeed pay attention and make changes, even if they’re not all sporting houndstooths.
Also, anybody know if Riley is traveling up with the team for the game? I assume injured players wouldn’t typically do so, but he’s in a unique position to help on the sidelines.
