Let’s not kid ourselves about Oregon
(Written by kencraw)
They’re extremely good. After watching the Bears today with Mansion and watching Oregon, even on the road versus USC, I’ve got to believe that it would take a near-miracle for the Bears to beat them in Berkeley.
I don’t care how much better we play at home.

At this point, a .500 season is going to be a minor miracle and Tedford will enter his first offseason where he’s officially in the hot seat. I’ve gone back and forth on this and I firmly believe he deserves 2 or 3 years after the stadium upgrade until he gets fired, but I don’t think he can survive many more seasons filled with lopsided losses like this.

Whether he deserves it or not, he is here for another 5 years. Sandy Barbour gave him a ridiculous contract, and we can’t afford the buyout.
But I don’t understand the language of “deserves.” I like the guy, and he did amazing things in his first few seasons. But he has been adequately compensated for his former success. At 3 million dollars a year, he doesn’t “deserve” anything more.
But again, Tedford is not going anywhere. With Cal cutting baseball, we are not about to pay him and his staff nearly 5 million each year to not coach, while also paying a new coaching staff a similar amount. Notre Dame can afford to do things like that, but Cal can’t.

I’m most disappointed that I can no longer blame Kevin Riley for all that ails the Bears.
Tedford ain’t going anywhere. Tom Holmoe lasted for five seasons in Berkeley without even sniffing .500 ball.
