Cal-WSU starts at decent hour, not on TV
(Written by jsnell)
The University of California has announced that October 24’s Cal-WSU game will not be televised and will start at the delightfully early time of 1:30 p.m.
This is what happens when you lose two games by gigantic margins and your opponent is the consensus worst team in the conference.
That said, I can’t wait to go to a game at Memorial Stadium with the sun high in the air.

man, that sucks for me. I’m stuck at a wedding so I really needed the TV feed.
If I wasn’t stuck, I’m with you Jason, I love the early games.

I wonder if they’ll show a replay of it anywhere, like on CSN, from an endzone camera or something? Probably not….

Ken,
This is great news. Now I won’t try to get them to hurry up pre-cana so I can get to the pub earlier.

I heard that someone emailed Sandy about this and she is trying to get a deal with comcast to show the game, not sure if its true or not, maybe you guys have some insight?

that would be sweet. you’d think the wsu side would be pulling for this as well. they could also do it online and synch the stadium feed to kgo’s radio broadcast and charge $5 to watch it like they do for some of the hoops games in the early season.

Ken, does that mean your tickets are for sale?

CBF, I’m pretty sure the game won’t be on TV. Once they announce the time of the game, they’re not going to change it (they’ve got beat up for that in the past) and having set the time really makes it tough for a new network to televise it because they can’t fit it into an existing slot unless everyone gets lucky.
Also, the general consensus amongst the reporters at the press conference is that in reality the athletic department almost prefers it this way. If it was an away game they’d care, but it being a home game it encourages more people to buy those 3 game packs they’ve been pushing. The lost TV revenue will be more than made up with additional ticket sales from their perspective (or so the theory goes).
Here’s the official answer for why it’s not feasible to put it on TV as told to Okanes:
